You will see I have a separate page covering this topic. On the page you will find a comprehensive outline of the differences between a blog and a wiki, plus links to all the different blog and wiki creation pages, and information about their uses.
And now, just to make it even more interesting, we have a beautiful example of a blog created by one of our very own lecturers, Monique Ellis from Aqua. She has developed a blog called Fishbytes, for her VETIS students, to keep them engaged between her weekly sessions with them. The link to her blog is right at the bottom of this page, under "Blog List" - go and check it out! Monique might be kind enough to tell us a little about her experiences, in the comments below or within the Blogs and Wiki pages.
In my last post I referred to the RSS feed on the left side of this screen, which is a link to a blog called Educational Technology and Mobile Learning. It is full of interesting and practical information about technology in education. One of the posts is a very useful list of "must have" digital tools for teachers which you may like to look through to find out if any of it would help you. Here is the link:
The 22 Digital Skills every 21st Century Teacher Must Have
Check these out and feel free to comment.
Hi Jill, great work on setting up the blog. I think it will be a valuable tool that we can refer to when we have "questions" relating to e-learning. One of the things I hope my blog will accomplish is a bit of a communication network. So I thought it would be good practice if I replied to your comments. I am planning on using some of the programs listed in the link you have given - digital skills. Has anyone else used any of these and can discuss whether they worked or didnt?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Monique. I regularly use Audacity to edit audio. Sometimes if you have something online with a lot of text, it's good to provide a link to an audio alternative, and Audacity is a free online audio editing tool that is easy to use and if you download a little add on they tell you about on the site you can export the audio file as an MP3 file which can be played on most devices.
ReplyDeleteI discovered WeVideo video editing tool - edit your video clips easily online - last week and used it to edit and cut a video clip for our Peer Support Group blog!
I have created a site with Google Sites but haven't done anything with it yet. Not sure of its capabilities. Weebly is another website creator - yes I have created a couple of sites with that, it's fantastic - easy to use, just drag and drop and hey presto you have your own website - great if you want your students to try a class website for example:)
Well that will do for now - that 25 item list is a very big list!!
